Mystery on the Gaza Border

An IDF soldier was found dead inside a military vehicle. No suspicion of hostile activity surrounds his death. IDF police are examining if the soldier died of inhaling toxic fumes while he was sleeping that could have been emitted from the heating system inside the vehicle

Soldiers stationed near Bnei Netzarim in the south found the body of Gil Tamna, an IDF soldier, yesterday morning (Sunday), inside a military vehicle. Tamna's body was transferred for autopsy in order to uncover the cause of death. No signs of violence were found that point to hostile terror activity.

The IDF is examining whether Tamna, who served as a truck driver for the technology and logistics branch in the Gaza Division area, died from the vehicle overheating during the night. According to testimonies of other soldiers stationed with him, Tamna slept in the vehicle while they preferred to step out and sleep elsewhere.

Another possibility being examined is that Tamna died from inhaling toxic fumes emitted from the heating system of the military vehicle, which, as stated, was on throughout the night.
